Opening the Door to God's Love

Opening the Door to God's Love

Sometimes we might feel nervous because we have not been close to God for a long time, haven’t been to confession in years, or simply have felt distant from Him for a while.

I don’t know who needs to read this, but God’s response to us is always one of unconditional love and joy at the prospect of reconnecting with us. God is waiting for us to return to Him.

Take that invitation that Jesus gives us in the Book of Revelation: “I stand at the door and knock.” Jesus is standing at the door of our heart, the door of our life.

Have you ever seen paintings illustrating this image? Usually, we find Jesus knocking at the door of a house, but there’s an important detail in the picture: on the outside of the door, where Jesus stands, there’s no doorknob. The handle is not there – it’s only on the other side. We have to open the door to let God into our lives.

Then Jesus will do the rest if we let Him.
